Chris Vance joins the HomeOwnership Center as loan originator

The HomeOwnership Center, Inc. is excited to announce Tucker County native Chris Vance has joined the organization’s team as a loan originator. Chris recently passed the pre-licensed education course and is a now a licensed loan specialist.Christena Vance

As a loan originator, Chris will prepare and review applications and work directly with customers on specific loan products offered through HOC. She will also assist customers from the start of the house buying process until closing day.

Chris received her associates degree in business administration from Davis and Elkins College. For more than a decade, she has worked for a local law firm where she prepared for and performed real estate closings. Chris’s former experiences has helped her create professional relationships with local realtors.

Chris is looking forward to working with community members and helping our customers become successful homeowners.

“I’m excited to begin working closely with potential homebuyers and to be part of their journey of buying their first, or second, home,” she said. “Homeownership is such a thrilling time in a person’s life, and I’m more than willing to help find the perfect loan program that will make someone’s dream come true.”

Chris currently resides in Elkins with her husband Dave and two fur babies. She enjoys being outdoors and spending quality time with her family.

Financial Opportunity Center available for financial education & more

Understanding financial management, budgeting, credit scores and the importance of savings is fundamental when it comes to bettering your personal financial situation. That is why during the month of April, known as Financial Literacy Month, organizations carry out initiatives designed to improve financial literacy. Financial literacy refers to the ability to understand and apply different financial skills effectively.

Fortunately for residents of Randolph County and surrounding areas, the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) works with clients all-year-long, completely free and 100 percent confidential, to assess and enhance clients’ financial affairs. Happy Homeowners – Samantha & Owen

 

Meet Samantha and Owen – two Pennsylvania natives who made their way to the Mountain State roughly eight years ago. Owen came to Elkins in 2012 to study at Davis and Elkins College, and Samantha followed suit in 2015 to be a member of an AmeriCorps program. Now, Owen is employed at VanNostrand Architects based in Buckhannon and Samantha works at LMC & Associates in Elkins. After living in downtown Elkins for five years, the pair decided it was time to purchase their first home together and turned to the HomeOwnership Center for some homebuying education and guidance.

We chatted with Samantha and Owen to find how out the house hunting process was and how the HomeOwnership Center played a role in finding their Randolph County home.

HOC awarded funding to further services

ELKINS, WV – The HomeOwnership Center, Inc., (HOC) is excited to announce it has received a $210,000 grant to assist its efforts to create successful homeowners and provide financial opportunities and affordable loans to potential homebuyers in an eight-county service area from NeighborWorks America. NeighborWorks is a public non-profit organization dedicated to housing and community development.

The HomeOwnership Center, Inc. is looking for a part-time Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator who will be responsible for promoting and developing the HOC brand throughout its service area, for building partnerships and referral sources, and for attracting a pipeline of customers for HOC home buyer counseling and mortgage lending services.
