Mountain CAP Story

HomeOwnership Advisor Jami Carpenter has taken financial education on the road.

In partnership with Mountain CAP’s Upshur County Family Support Center, in April, Jami led a Financial Life Skills Series designed to give community members practical and accessible tools for building financial stability. Over four weekly sessions, participants learned how to manage debt, understand credit issues, navigate different types of loans, and take steps towards creating long-term financial health.

The financial education series was built around real-life situations that many of our community members face. No abstract financial theory, but hands-on, real-life guidance. By meeting weekly, participants had time to absorb the material, ask questions, and eventually apply what they learned.

When Mountain CAP in Braxton County heard about the series, they wanted in. Jami plans to expand the series to their office and expand the topics covered to meet the needs of a new audience.

This kind of partnership is exactly what The HomeOwnership Center looks for, and by working alongside trusted community organizations like Mountain CAP, we are able to reach people where they are and help them build lasting and empowering financial skills.
