I’ve been thinking of the last few months as The Summer of The HomeOwnership Center. This Summer of The HomeOwnership Center started in June with the rollout of our (slightly different) name, our great new logo, new and more customer-friendly website, and this terrific quarterly newsletter that you are reading right now. July was full of community events for us, including an Elkins First Friday information table, and presentations at local Rotary Clubs. The Summer of The HomeOwnership Center culminated with our Rededication Ribbon Cutting at the end of August. Complete with the balloons, the speeches, and the logo-iced cookies you’d expect, we invited friends, partners, dignitaries, and customers to share in the fun as we cut the ribbon on our new sign, rededicated ourselves to making the dream of homeownership come true for our customers, and announced new ways that we’ll be supporting the communities we serve. It was a great day, and we are grateful to all those who were able to join us.
And speaking of the communities we serve, we watched with shock and dismay at the flooding that our neighboring counties suffered in late July. Our hearts continue to go out to all those who are dealing with the aftermath of this devastating event. As a way of offering some assistance from The HomeOwnership Center, we are waiving the income restrictions that normally apply to our Affordable Fix home repair loan so that all homeowners who were directly impacted by the Lewis and Upshur County flooding are eligible to apply. We are hoping that this loan can help to bridge any gap between the assistance homeowners received from their insurance and from FEMA. If you need a low-cost loan to make necessary repairs to your home due to the flood, please reach out to us and we will work through it with you.
And with that announcement, I will officially bring The Summer of The HomeOwnership Center to a close. Thanks for being along for the ride with us. We are eagerly anticipating the beauty of fall coming to our mountain town, and we hope you enjoy it, too!
